A Martin dreadnought acoustic with pickup, the DCX1RE is constructed from a solid Sitka spruce top and High Pressure Laminate Koa back and sides. High Pressure Laminate is a patented construction technique which gives a very strong and durable material but manages to still give a characterful and well rounded bass end to the DCX1KE's tone.
Quality of construction on the DCX1KE is incredibly high, constructed in the same Martin factory as guitars quadruple it's price and by the same people, the DCX1KE is simply a wonderful piece of engineering. Peering into the sound hole shows the back bracing of the DCX1KE is perfect throughout and, if you were able to easily see, that top bracing you would find an A Frame X-1 setup, minimal wood so as not to stifle the vibration of the Martin's solid spruce top but strong enough to offer support under the pull of the strings.
Fitted on this Martin acoustic is a Fishman Aero pickup, Martin have had a long relationship with Fishman on their electro-acoustics and it does seem to suit their guitars well. The Fishman Aero Plus gives options of a three band EQ, notch control to minimise feedback problems, tuner and body microphone to give more depth and colour to the under saddle Piezo output.
An outstanding electro-acoustic from Martin here, built be the same people who bring you Martin acoustics quadruple the price, "that" Martin tone and great value for money.
