Martin & Co. established in 1833 and is the oldest family business in the US. Making medium to high end acoustic guitars, they are the yard stick on which all acoustic guitars are measured with such classic guitars as the D-28, D-15M and signature models for artists such as Eric Clapton's OOO28-EC. Martin & Co. are responsible for what we know today as the acoustic guitar and without them the acoustic guitar landscape would be very different. Despite having their bracing patterns and body shaped copied numerous times by just about all acoustic guitar manufacturers when you play a Martin, you know it's a Martin. They sound like nothing else. |
