A monster all valve guitar amp combo weighing in at 100 watts into either 4, 8 or 16 ohms and packing four 6L6GC valves and three 12AX7 valves.
Clean and dirty channel, each with their own separate EQs. The dirty gain channel boasts a gain control which can be taken from lower gain crunch noise where the tone just begins to break up in that beautiful natural, organic valve style to a cranked high gain thick and hugely powerful metal / hard rock sound which just jumps right out and grabs you. Also on this dirty channel is a gain and volume boost. Either use this to take your tone into even deeper gain areas or, with the optional foot switch, use it to boost your signal when playing a lead part and really stand out in the mix.
Clean channel is pure and sparkling and manages to achieve a high headroom with little distortion even at the highest volumes. Round the back of the Valve King combo is Peavey's own Texture control taking you from Class A/B to pure open ended Class A. If high volume sparkling cleans are what you need give this a tweak and you'll find your self in what sounds like a very expensive boutique amplifier.
Add to all these features Presence and Resonance controls, a quality reverb section and solid feeling power and stanby toggle switches and you'll find an amp punching way way above it's price tag in terms of build quality, tone and usability. An astonishing amplifier at an astonishing price.
