Yamaha APX500 Series Small Body Electro-Acoustic in Dark Red Burst

A small body acoustic guitar, very manageable and a great player, the APX500 series Yamaha electro-acoustic guitars are designed from the ground up as a live guitar deisgned to be plugged in.

Amplified tone is very clear, clean and pronounced, Yamaha's own 55T pickup system works very well here. There's no solid wood, top is spruce and back and sides Nato but money has been instead put into making this a reliable and trustworthy gigging guitar which the working musician can rely on. Some say amplified tone is less affected by tonal qualities of solid woods so perhaps it's better that the money does go into construction and a great quality pickup.

Body depth varies between 80 and 90mm, much slimmer than most acoustics. The APX range is often popular with guitarists whose main instrument is electric because of this small body and the low action which can be achieved with the high quality neck, rosewood fingerboard and well set frets.
