Yamaha's BB series has always been reknowned for it's work horse structure and high output despite circuitry being passive.
The Yamaha BB424 is strung diagonally through the body causing less stress on the string and also allowing lots of biration transfer from the string to the body.
The neck is constructed from five seperate pieces of maple and nato giving lots of strength and feels just right, not too thin and not too thick, it feels perfect in the hand.
The split single pickup at the neck and straight single pickup at the bridge both give an impressively high output which isn't too boomy.
Plenty of bass for the money here, a solid workhorse that will outlive you if you look after it.
Finished in tobacco sunburst
