The Yamaha Pacifica 012 (PAC012-DBM) is probably the most respected starter guitar on the market. Yamaha's attention to detail and unsurpassed quality control make the Pacifica 012 range in a class of it's own. First of all, the pickup configuration of one humbucker and two single coil pickups make it very versatile and able to give the guitarist starting out a variety of sounds from crunching heavy metal, to more mellow blues, rock and jazz styles and everything in between.
The body on the Yamaha Pacifica 012 is either constructed from Agathis or Nato, both good quality tonewoods without the heavy price tag of African mahogany. This body is contoured for an easy comfortable playing experience. Finish is always perfect, with no marks, gaps or problems around the neck join or where the high quality stable vintage style bridge with whammy bar is attached. The bridge is a refreshing change from many entry level guitars, it's smooth and doesn't completely throw the tuning out like a lot of budget bridges.
Yamaha Pacifica's Features:
22 highly polished and well set frets sit on the rosewood fingerboard perfectly bounded onto the comfortable maple neck. Those HSS (humbucker, single coil, single coil) pickups are controlled by a five way selector switch, one master volume control and one master tone control. The five way selector switch allows you to have; humbucker alone for chunky rhythm sounds, perfect for metal and rock, middle single coil and one of the humbucker pickps together, single coil on it's own, neck and middle pickup together or neck pickup on it's own for smooth leads. Roll off the tone control with any of these combinations and get an even smoother less treble laden thick tone.
This is all pretty standard stuff pickup configuration wise, what isn't standard though is the build quality and reliabilty the Pacifica 012 offers. It's not easy to find at this price tag. Finished in dark blue.
